What do you do when your iPod gets saturated with water?

You can pass. One minute your iPod is in your hand, the next it falls into a puddle of liquid, hopefully nothing with sugar.

The iPod has become synonymous with being “in sync” and “cool” for many people, primarily young teens and yuppies. iPods are still just electronic devices that you can carry in your pocket or purse. It’s a wonderful little gadget that replaced CDs, CD players, and bulky boomboxes. It has the capacity to store 25,000 photos, 15,000 songs or 150 hours of video in a case that is smaller than a pack of cigarettes.

iPods let you listen and watch your favorite music and videos through a 2.5″ color screen. For all its glory and the best salute to technology, it’s still just an electronic device. When dropped in water, it can quickly become in a paper clip.

I can’t help but feel mystical every time I see a mature person with an iPod. That’s great! The iPod initially started out as a high-end luxury item, but today it is no longer applicable due to the wide range of models available on the market.

The MacIntosh iPod is small and handy, but it can store more than 15,000 songs, 25,000 photos, and 150 hours of video. It has become invaluable to many due to the amount of data it can hold. Unfortunately, accidents can happen at any time.

You probably use your iPod wherever you go: bedroom, bathroom, office, on the way to places, parties, the list is endless. It’s just another statistic waiting to happen: your iPod becomes saturated with water.

When this happens, immediately remove your iPod from the water and turn it off. This is to protect it from being struck by a bolt of electricity. Try to dry your unit as much as possible. Wrap it up and put it in a warm place to dry. It would be advisable to wait at least 48 hours before trying to turn it on again.

The first question is whether it will still work properly. If not, the next questions would be is it repairable and where can you take it to be repaired. In most cases, the answer to the first question is yes, the iPod can be repaired. It will only be a matter of replacing the damaged parts.

If a sad face appears or the folder appears when you turn it on, don’t despair because all is not lost yet. I would recommend erasing the content and restoring the iPod.

To do this there are a few simple steps to follow:

  1. Go to My Computer and click on Desktop.
  2. Right-click on the iPod icon and select Format.
  3. Select FAT 32, then reboot.

If all that was damaged was the hard drive, then this should solve your problem. If not, you may need to have it checked by a professional. Hopefully, your warranty is valid.

To keep your iPod from getting wet, you can buy accessories that will keep it dry, such as waterproof cases, iPod belts, and earphones.

In case your iPod cannot be repaired, you can always recycle it and get a ten percent discount.
