Tranquility, something to consider… or not (2 poems)

Tranquility

Like diamonds that shine in the glaciers

Or sapphires sailing in the sky…

I hear the sound of silence

Without waiting for an answer.

I don’t need an answer

To questions never asked.

I just wait… and listen…

In the stillness I enjoy,

Like a creature of deep luxury

Without much need to fill…

A winged being just swinging

We have a high hill and no wind.

It comes to me in waves of silk,

This feeling of relaxation

Of everything that seems so immediate,

I’m just a creation

Of what lives and breathes alone

Yet it’s part of everything around,

A spiritual force of energy

Wrapped in lack of sound.

Cushioned from noise and stress

Of what is imposed,

My inner source joins like

The bud becomes a rose.

Resplendent in the shimmering waves

Embracing who I am…

A moment of such a rainbow hue

On my distant sea…

Beckoning, though silent,

As my wings now feel the breeze

that seeps through the atmosphere

To free my being…

And welcome you to distant lands

Where the climate is mild and peaceful,

And I… the one who patiently waits…

Become the newborn child.

Something to consider… or not

Don’t insist that he loves you forever…

A fatal flaw indeed.

But if you offer those tender words…

It’s all very nice, really.

However… “forever” is an awfully long time.

And I question its use at all.

If I were the boy in question,

I would find reasons enough to stagnate.

why not just appreciate

The here… the now… as best.

Because if you demand that he sign with blood

To prove that “the Test” has passed.

You may just stick with his signature.

On a blank sheet

and then, my dear, who is responsible?

You only have yourself to thank.

I don’t mean to sound cynical

Nor broadcast a sudden alarm…

But your insistence on a promise

It could cause less good than harm.

And while you’re at it, consider this:

Will he change his ways for you?

Another fatal flaw, my sweet,

It is best to adjust your view.

Do you care enough for this fine young man?

Accept it for what it is?

Or did you plan to reform the cad

With your own black magic… great!

I must remind you one more time

That such a change is self-induced

And I might ask, while we’re at it,

Have your strange ways shrunk?

Each of us is a person…

A person in his own right.

And before you decide to remodel,

Don’t overestimate your sights.

And yet… if chemistry and love and opportunity

meet in time…

So hooray for Eternal Love

And ignore this silly rhyme!
