Are you a Write-A-Holic?

Okay, so this is my 31,000th online article, supposedly some kind of dumb world record. Of course, that’s not saying much because there isn’t a lot of competition to go out and write 31,000 articles; I’m more or less competing against myself these days. A lot of my friends think I’m crazy and my keyboard doesn’t have letters on the keys anymore, and I’m on my version 12 of the Dragon Speak voice software.

So how many words are there in 31,000 articles and 188 eBooks anyway? Well, I’m not sure, but the last estimate was 10.5 million words. Yeah, I guess my friends are right, I’m crazy, crazy as they say. Interestingly, there have been academic research papers on prolific writers, and it turns out that writing can be very therapeutic. In fact, if someone has PTSD or some terrible adversity to overcome in their life, writing helps tremendously. Yes, I have also written about that. In fact, I’ve written so much that I’m running out of things to write about.

Well, I guess that’s part of the reason I’m writing this article. You see, I need your help. I need more things to write about and I desperately need more interesting topics. So if you have a passion for something, a worthy cause or a fascinating insight into anything under the sun or part of human endeavour, please share it with me below in the comments section.

Now, I would like to talk to you about this addiction to writing;

“Hello, my name is Lance and I am a writing addict.”

Unfortunately, there’s no 13-step program for people like me, but I’m sure I’m not alone. You know what’s so funny about all this? You see, others complain about “writer’s block” but actually they are the lucky ones, imagine having so much going on in your head that you just can’t stop writing, and you never seem to run out of things to write about, scary, TRUE? By the way.

My only hope of curing my addiction to writing is to run out of things to think about, talk about, and write about. But, when that happens, what will I do? I can’t imagine at this point, stopping, giving up like Forrest Gump did. Hard to say, what are any of us writing addicts to do if we can’t write anymore? I mean we will not be allowed to present “fake news” as it looks like they will make a law against that soon.

However, I suppose in a way we are lucky that there is always something going on somewhere in the world to talk about, something to watch and report on, some valuable advice or insight to give.

Maybe we’ll be needed, well, until artificial intelligence takes over and we’re no longer needed. Yet somehow, I bet we keep writing, even if AI systems can post millions of times more pages than all of us combined, and until then, let’s give the machines a run for their money.

In closing, to my fellow online article writers and writing addicts, I just want to say, keep up the great work because if there’s one thing I love more than writing, it’s learning new things, and I need you to keep writing so that I I can keep learning.

What are you going to write today? Make it something great, I can’t wait to read it.
