Every game console has its issues and the Xbox 360 is no different. The 360 suffers from the red ring of death or RROD. Red lights indicate a number of errors, but the three red lights are the worst.
The 3 red lights error tells us that our console has suffered a general hardware failure. If you go to Microsoft’s Xbox web page, it tells you that you need to get it fixed. If you’re looking to repair your Xbox 360, you have three options to resolve your issue.
1. Towel trick. Your friends or fellow players may have told you about this one. It basically involves wrapping your faulty Xbox 360 in a towel and then turning it on for a while until it gets fixed. Other variations tell you to place your beloved console in an oven wrapped in the towel.
This method may work, but nine times if ten is a temporary solution. It is also dangerous for your console, as it is subjected to temperatures for which it was not designed. I personally do not recommend this method; if you try, it is at your own risk, I have warned you.
2. Microsoft. The obvious solution really or is it? You can send your console in for repair, but ask yourself, can you go without your console for about six weeks? I thought no, neither did I.
The other thing to remember with this method is the fact that unless your console is still under warranty, you will have to pay for the repairs. At the time of writing the cost is around $150, I don’t know about you, but if I have that kind of cash I’d rather buy a couple of new games.
3. Fix it yourself. Yes, this is possible if you know what you are doing. If not, it’s still a realistic idea to fix your Xbox 360 red lights of death yourself. However, I would suggest reading an Xbox repair guide or you may risk further damage to your console.
