Transportation options to Miami International Airport from FLL

There are four transportation options to these areas from FLL: carpool, luxury sedan, taxi, and train.

A van will accommodate a maximum of ten passengers. They accept cash and are equipped with a credit card acceptance machine. Shared Vans offers shared van rides (per person) for between $21 and $23 (at the time of writing). Luxury sedan rides are between $70 and $73 for up to four people. Then there are also taxis from Ft. Lauderdale. Charges for these are based on meter readings and are estimated to be around $67 or so.

As far as taxis are concerned, they hold a maximum of five people for the rate indicated on the taxi meter.

Passengers should also note that some taxis also accept credit cards. Therefore, passengers looking to pay for the taxi with a credit card should be sure to make this clear to the dispatcher who is in charge of assigning the taxis at the transportation podium. These guys will help you find a taxi that is equipped with a credit card accepting machine.

When you’re at the Ft. Lauderdale airport, sign up for carpool, limos, and taxis at the transportation podiums. You can find them outside the baggage area in each terminal on the lower level curbside.

People who have not arranged a pick-up service, such as reserving cars and vans in advance, that would transport them to their destination from the airport, will need to take a train, rideshare, or call a taxi upon arrival at the airport. For shared vehicles, they may have to wait a while. During most hours, most carpools make it out in 10 minutes. However, Ft Lauderdale buses or car service and taxis are generally available and leave for your preferred destination immediately.

Travel time to Miami from FLL is generally estimated to be around 45 minutes; however during traffic hours it can take longer than that depending on how heavy the traffic is.

Tri Rail offers direct service to MIA. But passengers who want to go to the Port of Miami or South Beach will have to hire a taxi after getting off at the MIA Tri Train Station. Tri-Rail also offers free shuttle buses from the FLL terminals to the Tri Rail station, just a few miles from the airport. These FLL shuttle bus stops are located on the lower level; at the west end of Terminal 1; between Terminals 2 and 3; between terminals 3 and 4.
