The climate of Nokkundi

The climate of Nokkundi in Balochistan has a desert type climate with extreme temperatures in both summer and winter and very little rainfall. Next is the Nokkundi hydrothermal regime.

Temperature

Temperatures can be very hot in summer in Nokkundi. During three months of the year, ie June, July and August, the average high remains above 104 F and temperatures at midday can be expected to reach 120 F; during the course of a strong heat wave. The nights, however, are a little better and the nightly low in these months is around 80 F.

Spring and fall are a bit cooler; each has a daytime high of around 95 F and an overnight low of about 70 F, but the best time of the year is the winter season.

Winters in Nokkundi are pleasant and the temperatures comfortable. The days are quite comfortable around 70 F, but the nights can be very cold. It is not uncommon for the overnight low to drop as low as 32 F. Generally though, winter season is the best season in Nokkundi with clear blue skies and nice sunshine.

Precipitation

Precipitation in Nokkundi is very low. In fact, it is the driest place in all of Pakistan with a total annual rainfall of just one and a half inches. The month with the most precipitation, January, registers only two-thirds of an inch. The reason is that it is so geographically located that neither winter nor summer rain systems can come close to it.

The dryness of the place can be easily judged by the fact that it registers zero rainfall during four months of the year which are June, August, September and October. Such extreme dryness is not found anywhere else in Pakistan.

As the air in Nokkundi is extremely dry (relative humidity is usually less than 10 percent on summer afternoons), its inhabitants easily bore the great summer heat. For example, if the actual outside temperature is 110 F, the apparent temperature or heat index is typically less than 100 F.

In short, Nokkundi is a place in Pakistan where you can experience temperatures as high as 120 F in summer and as low as 32 F in winter. Rainfall is the lowest in Pakistan with an annual total of just one and a half inches.
