How to impress your parents and get what you want

Have you ever wondered why your parents don’t buy you that favorite toy you tell them about? Or why they haven’t taken you to see the new movie that everyone else has seen!

Many young people try to please themselves and do not care about their parents. They try to throw tantrums, cry, and even physically pressure their parents to let them have what they want. Sometimes these strategies work, but most of the time they don’t.

This will definitely leave you feeling quite uncomfortable and empty. So what can you do about it? Well I remember one thing that always worked for me and that is being so helpful to mom and dad that they paid me to get out of the house and go to the movies with lots of extra money to buy popcorn and candy and drinks. I still had a few dollars left to go see the next movie the next day.

What did I do to deserve this special outpouring of generosity?

I learned from my uncle that to enjoy my parents’ favor I would have to please my parents by helping around the house. Doing the chores, doing the dishes, mowing the lawn, weeding the garden, making myself indispensable was more than enough to earn my parents’ pleasure.

There were times when I made breakfast for my parents when they were in bed. Nothing fancy, just vegemite with toast and coffee. But they got me out quickly, breakfast and all. Since then, my dad paid me an allowance so I wouldn’t want to serve my parents breakfast at 5:30 in the morning.

While cutting, I accidentally ran over mom’s flowers. My mom replanted them and asked me to be more careful. As I kept cutting I kept running over huge rocks which damaged the mower. Dad wasn’t too happy, I apologized and offered to be more careful, but Dad didn’t want to risk the lawn mower. He offered to mow the lawn and gave me some money to go buy ice cream at the local store.

Dad gave me an assignment ever since, just to go to the movies with my friends when he had special late-afternoon talks with Mom. My dad is great!

I’m sure you’d like to get what you want. The question is, are you prepared to please your parents to the point that they love you so much that they will give you what you want? Act now, be indispensable to your parents. They will love you.

You deserve it.

For your useful learning success,
