Why do people bother making full CGI movies when there are actors to act? I’m babbling about the full CGI movie titled Beowulf, starring the voices of Angelina Jolie and Anthony Hopkins, to name the least. Whatever the reason for the full CGI decision, I think Angelina Jolie and Anthony Hopkins look much better in real life. However, the two famous actors and actresses have their images incorporated into Beowulf’s CGI movie. I guess in the future there will also be more Beowulf video game sponsorships for both of them.
Beowulf is the best full CGI (computer generated imagery) animated film to date. The story of Beowulf begins in Denmark around AD 502, where a king finds himself happy with his subjects and their riches in a great hall until a giant monster, ugly as heck, twice as tall as the tallest man with the burned skin, meddles in the party and kills many of the king’s members. Directly at the center of the action is the Beowulf movie.
The strange thing is that the monster, named Grendell, does not kill King Hrothgar (Anthony Hopkins) in the Beowulf movie. The monster just yells at him and then leaves. The king and his people need a hero to destroy the monster. Beowulf knows the news and comes to kill the “MonSTARrr” as he says it! Beowolf is captivated by the beauty and musical abilities of the young Queen Weatlhow (Robin Wright Penn). Beowulf has no idea that he will meet and be seduced by a pretty demon that he cannot kill.
The agile Beowulf (Ray Winstone) and the joyous cheers of his troop attract the hideous monster; Grendell & Beowulf manages to fatally injure him. In retaliation, Grendell’s mother (Angelina Jolie) kills and hangs Beowulf’s remaining soldiers face down in the great hall while he is asleep and forgives him for a personal reason. Now is the point, as we have seen in the trailer, where Beowulf confronts Grendell’s mother. I think she wants more than to see her son’s killer, Beowulf, for him to purposefully track her down to his lair in the Beowulf movie.
Beowulf is seduced by the promise of riches and power from Grendell’s mother (Angelina Jolie). It’s a scene not to be missed by Angelina Jolie fans. As long as the golden dragon horn remained with her, Beowulf would be the strongest and most powerful king. Beowulf is helpless, unable to kill her, and instead likely had sex with the demon featured in the Beowulf movie. Beowulf is surprised to learn that his rise to royalty will be so rapid. He didn’t think he would like to know how the next incidents would play out.
King Hrothgar commits suicide probably because he feels guilty about losing his bastard monster son, Grandell and also his demonic mother. Before you knew it; Beowulf has aged and has gray hair. You can expect the Beowulf movie to be similar to or better than the only other full CGI movie I know of, Final Fantasy: Spirits Within (2001). The golden dragon horn mysteriously finds its way to Beowulf and he questions the incident as a sign that his reign as invincible king is over. The phrase, “Sins of the father” haunts Beowulf and it is probably his bastard demon son who is wreaking havoc on his kingdom, ready to seize the throne of Beowulf and his Kingdom.
The most impressive CGI (computer generated imagery) work in the Beowulf movie is the Dragon. In the stupendous battle against the Dragon, Beowulf almost had his butt on a stake. In a fierce battle against the dragon, who is actually his son, Beowulf even has to cut off his arm to kill him. It is obvious that his monster son, the Dragon demon, does not want to kill him because he intends to kill the queen and Beowulf’s young lover. It is as if his son expresses his frustrations that his father, Beowulf, resents his demonic mother and himself. Too bad the particular aspect of the film is not dramatized in the Beowulf film.
Beowulf meets his last adversary when he fights his own demon son, the Dragon demon and dies after killing his own monster son. Beowulf’s best friend appears to be the new king. Grendall’s mother (Angelina Jolie) comes to Beowulf’s funeral and meets the new king in her usual seductive pose. He probably intends to have an offspring with every new king that appears. The Beowulf movie will continue. The Beowulf movie is like playing a video game, fighting this fight, doing this, doing that, and clusters of stories in between to make sense of your game.
