Regardless of which primary profession you choose in World of Warcraft, improving your crafting skills depends on which gathering profession you choose. Blacksmiths, jewelers, and engineers require an endless supply of minerals, making mining the preferred gathering profession. Leatherworkers need skins, alchemists and inscribers need herbs, and enchanters need spell components. Even the chefs of Azeroth need meat, fish, and poultry for their delicacies. Gathering professions are not only essential to the flourishing economy within the realms, they are a necessity.
In this series of articles, I’m going to take you through the lands of Azeroth and break down the different areas and locations where these materials exist and look up the best farming spots in the game, with the exception of enchantment components of course. Those materials are obtained from magical items that need to be disenchanted. Disenchanting an item destroys the item to gain the components needed for your craft.
Today’s article will list the herbs found in each area by their minimum skill level needed to gather, as well as the player level needed to survive in the area. In future articles we will break down these areas and materials in greater detail. For now, let’s start with the herbs found in the Eastern Kingdoms with follow-up articles for Kalimdor, Northrend, and Outland.
