Developing golf swing mechanics and open eyes affect stress and range of motion

Connection between open eyes and golf swing mechanics range of motion skills. How to use the state of the eyes to develop a fluid swing.

  • The more open the eyes are, the greater the sensation of stress in the shoulder and the muscle tension in the body, which creates resistance from the internal muscles of the body in your swing.

  • Take a physical test: start with your eyes open and take a little breath and wiggle your fingers to see how they feel in range of motion and how difficult it is to move them. It is not a fast range to form a sensation. As you open your eyes, you will notice a tension in your shoulders that you can call stress.

  • The example of eye placement can be seen in the dancer’s eyes. They are soft notices that are ajar and project tranquility.

  • If you want fluidity and range of motion in your swing mechanics, then you must have calm eyes.

How this applies to golf:

Your golf swing should have a smooth rhythm and a low range of muscle tension.

  • Under Settings for a Driving Swing, close your eyes to allow time to feel your settings and let your mind adjust the feel to generate force in the swing. By closing your eyes, the mind can choose the forces that shape your body based on the sensations that reach the brain and the mind’s choices what to adjust based on the ideas and practice swing mechanics for that club.

  • Having your eyes closed allows you to soften your jaw muscles (pterygoid muscles), reducing stress from breakouts, affecting faces, and keeping your shoulders down. (One of the root causes of all steering errors is that the shoulders rise up.) You can keep your eyes closed and hit the ball if your swing mechanics for each club are very refined.

  • Try to have your eyes half closed and make sure you can still see the ball. Keep your eyes in this position during your swing. Do this while swinging a ball. This exercise is creating a new sensation.

  • Just before you touch the ball, your eyes will widen and your body will tense. You can and should try this effect with your eyes just wide open. (This has never been talked about).

Using your eyes to release tension:

  • There are two eye positions that you can use during meditation exercises.

    • One is to have your eyes closed and the other is to have your eyes open at different levels. The hardest thing in meditation is that your eyes are open enough to see ANYTHING clearly. Only soft eyes make soft faces join jaw softening.

    • By opening and closing your eyes, the two positions narrow your mind’s focus between your inner and outer clues.

    • When your eyes are open blurry, you can’t focus directly, it’s the target, so you can be in your core breathing directing moving energy into your body.

  • My suggestions:

  • I would start with my eyes half open and a soft jaw (pterygoid muscles). Swing with eyes half openso you don’t squeeze). Again, if your eyes open fully, you may feel your shoulders tense.

  • When your eyes are wide open, your shoulders lose their rotational range of motion. Having your eyes open tenses your entire face and directs your energy to your face rather than to the mechanics of the swing.

  • When your eyes are half open, you can focus on the mechanics of the swing.

  • When your eyes are open, you move between the mechanics of the swing and what your mental attitude generator is processing.

  • Your goal is to cool the abstract thoughts of the mental attitude generator and transition to your learned swing mechanics.

  • These exercises train your mind to capture all of your sensations.

  • You can have a negative or positive attitude. A negative attitude is always an abstractive thought or idea and is based on external fear of oneself. A positive attitude focuses more on the physical connection to what you are doing in the ear and you are now in the Zone state with your body moving in one swing.

Try this

  • The bigger your eyes are, the more your mind is focused which affects the state of the body and the emotions to the purpose.

  • The following exercise tests your clarity:

    • He half opens his eyes and looks at a chair. Move your fingers, they will move easily.

    • Then open your eyes ¾ and look at the same chair. Try moving your fingers – it will be a bit more difficult and the reach will be a bit lower than when your eyes were half open.

    • Finally, open your eyes wide and take a look at the same chair. Try to move your fingers; it becomes impossible for them to move.

    • This test shows the link between the eyes and range of motion. The goal is to have calm eyes, a calm jaw and faces.

    • You cannot soften your shoulders. Calm eyes conserve your body’s energy.

    • To soothe your eyes, inhale through your nose and then exhale while blowing your lips as if you are playing a trumpet. Allow your lids to drop to create blurry vision on your exhale. The exhalation for the best effect is created from the navel movement. As you exhale, pull your navel toward your spine and down to your tailbone. You should have soft shoulders to get the longest exhale.

    • This will allow your shoulders to soften and your entire body to soften. Use your exhale through your lips to lower your eyes, then pause while feeling empty. Then open your eyes halfway. This is the state you want to be in to shape your golf.

    Conclution

  • If your goal is to have better swing mechanics, I suggest that you condition your mental attitude generator to use your energy more efficiently. This is not simple to achieve but it is simple in concept.

  • You do this by using your internal forces to engage certain muscle groups and notice your energy sensations. Here is the RULE. The more you feel, the less you think or have abstract thoughts. The more you think or are processing endless ideas, the less you will feel your body swinging, so the less pleasure.

  • Your goal when practicing swing mechanics is to have a high feel and low abstract thoughts for your work to create a Zone state in your golf swing. The way you shape the eyes and pterygoid muscles is key.

  • When a person is calm, his eyes are not fully open. This is because this will make your shoulders looser initially. As soon as you have an intention, your mental attitude generator kicks in and then its eyes widen. This action tightens the face and jaw, which in effect tightens the shoulders and the entire body.

  • A quiet swing is a good swing. Calming down will allow you to have a wider range of motion and feel more while you form and perform your swing mechanics. It also allows you to have stronger feet, hands, and head.

  • You have to recondition your mind and increase the physical sensations in your mind, so the mind forgets the old swing mechanics and the goal is always to have Zone swing state. This is a repeatable effect.

  • Being able to project the proper starting point for your eyes will trade your entire physical sensation for the mechanics of your swing. The initial position of the eyes affects the jaw, shoulders, body, feet, hands, face, and mind.

  • Having a complete understanding of how you can shape your eyes triggers positive swing mechanics.

The swing mechanics and the core generator with the attitude generator and energy movement during a Zone swing can be seen in the drawing of the Five Lessons in Two from Ben Hogan’s book. Understanding those two by drawing information about what he did with his Swing Mechanics is not part of the Book. One has to realize his own internal forces for his swing state of the Swing Mechanics Zone. Zone is swing without an abstrcat thought, so it has elevated feel.

To help understand those two drawings, I created a YouTube series detailing small development points for Zone’s state swing mechanics with each club. Ben Hogan gives me the right ideas and the best swing mechanics to build your own swing.
