Its national level of recognition began in 1932 when the Irish Ladies Championship was held there. Five years later the Men’s Close Irish Amateur Championship followed suit.

Its first significant level of competition came in 1957, when the course was chosen to host the Irish Professional Championship. Soon after, waves of other golf competitions and organizations recognized his high-quality links and awarded him high praise.

After more than 60 years, Ballybunion Golf Club has finally gotten the recognition it so well deserves and things have never been the same again. Golfers now flock from all over the world to experience what the lucky Irish have had for over a century. Ballybunion Golf Club would always be recognized as the best golfing holiday in Ireland.
