Hello Folks! Welcome to Our Blog.

A poem written on behalf of a daughter for her parents to present to her on her 50th wedding anniversary.

Anna wanted to express how good, solid and loyal parents they are. Parents who love God, the church and their children. Her devotion and her loyalty to her children are appreciated. That they be honest in their dealings with others; They don’t side with anyone. She believes they are soul mates.

Yes, there are good and bad parents in this world, a definition that is sometimes difficult to make, but when you find really good parents, well, that’s just icing on the cake.

So what defines greatness? I guess it comes from within, and I know I couldn’t have chosen better parents, I couldn’t, even if I tried.

You see, I have good, solid, loyal parents, parents who love their God and their church and theirs, and I’m so grateful to them, I’m so grateful for all the love that they’ve shown.

They have been my inspiration in life, they have been my guide, my shining light, they have led us onto good ground, and their love has shone so steadily and brightly.

His love has shone through his patience and at times I will admit I have put him to the test, his love has shone through his guidance and some of his advice has proven to be the best.

They have always taken the time to talk to us, for which we thank them from the bottom of our hearts, they have played such an important role in our lives, and they have both played a very good role.

Dad was always a good provider, but he also provided his wisdom to share, taught us morals and values to live by, and that it was always important to take care.

He is actually a very generous man, but does not believe in wasting anything, conservative by nature, always cautious about what tomorrow may bring.

My mother is also my friend and I am very proud to be her daughter, she has a warm and gentle spirit, she is like streams of water flowing freely.

I remember my sister and I running to untie Dad’s boots. He was tired at the end of his work day, he would sit down and rest, and we, of course, would go out and play.

I remember sitting down to breakfast on a Sunday morning and naturally we would all say Grace, and I remember John running after the truck, you should have seen the look on his face.

And we have so many happy memories, too many to count individually, but those memories will last a lifetime, precious treasures that we will always have.

Because, it’s just wonderful when two people live their lives, in a way that others notice and want to be that way, it’s nothing to brag about or boast about, but something to be grateful for, and that’s a fact.

Because when soul mates live in harmony, others see it and want it too, and I think the best words ever spoken were fifty years ago, and they were “I do.” Copyright Allen Jesson 1998
